What we collect,
and what we do not.
Short version: if you do not fill the form in and you do not agree to analytics, this site stores nothing about you at all. No cookies, nothing in your browser, and not a single request to anyone but us.

Who we are

We are the data controller for this site. For anything on this page, write to enquiries@web-smart.co.
The enquiry form
The form asks for your name, your email address and a message. You choose what goes in the message, so please do not put anything in it you would not want sitting in an ordinary inbox.
We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell it, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own purposes.
Sending it produces two emails: one to us, and one back to you so you have a record of what you sent. Your address goes in the reply-to field of ours, which is how replying works.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you contacted us and would reasonably expect an answer. Where an enquiry turns into work, it becomes steps taken at your request before a contract.
Your IP address is checked for a moment when you submit, to stop the form being used to send bulk mail. It is held in memory only and is never written down or stored.
The form is also protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which looks at how the page was used to tell a person from a bot. That runs whether or not you agreed to analytics, because without it the form would be open to abuse and we would have to take it down. It is the only thing on this site that works that way, and the law allows it for exactly that reason. Google's privacy policy and terms apply to it.
Analytics, only if you say yes
We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read. Nothing loads until you agree. Say no, or ignore the banner, and the Google code is never put on the page in the first place, so there is nothing to block and nothing to delete.
If you do agree, Google Analytics also contacts stats.g.doubleclick.net and google.co.uk as well as its own servers. That is Google's own advertising infrastructure, and it is worth knowing it is in the picture even though we do not advertise and do not use it to.
Our lawful basis is your consent, and you can take it back at any time using the cookie choice link at the bottom of every page.

The first two appear only after you accept. The reCAPTCHA one appears when you use the enquiry form, agreed or not. The last is set the moment you answer the banner either way, because we have to remember a no as much as a yes.
Who else sees it
- Vercel hosts the site, in their London region. Like any web server it keeps short-lived request logs, which include IP addresses.
- Amazon Web Services sends the two enquiry emails, through our own sending setup in their London region.
- Google receives analytics data, and only if you agreed to it. Separately, Google reCAPTCHA sees the enquiry form being used, whether or not you agreed to analytics.
Those are the only three. There are no advertising pixels, no session recording, no chat widget, and no social media trackers on this site. Our fonts are served from our own domain, so loading a page does not tell Google you were here.
Where it goes
Hosting and email are in the UK. Vercel and Google are American companies, so their staff and systems may reach data from outside the UK. Where that happens it is covered by the transfer safeguards in their standard data processing terms.
How long we keep it
Enquiries stay in our email while we are dealing with them, and for as long as we are working together afterwards. When an enquiry goes nowhere we clear it out. Ask us to delete yours and we will, without needing a reason.
Analytics data is held by Google for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Server logs are short-lived and we do not mine them.
What you can ask for
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to stop using it, or to object to how we are using it. You can withdraw consent to analytics whenever you like. Email enquiries@web-smart.co and we will sort it within a month, which is the legal limit and usually far longer than it takes.
If we get it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.
Changes
If we add anything to the site that collects more than this, this page changes before it goes live, not after. The date at the top is the last time that happened.
